Remark :

This photograph by Lim Sze Woon, was taken on 21 November 1950. It shows two generations of teachers of St. Michaels Institution. Gordy advisies that seated 3rd from the left is Teh Swee Kang and standing 3rd left is his son, Albert Teh. Seated on the extreme right of the picture is Mr P J Morsingh, the first headmaster.

Joe Chin adds:
May I make a correction on your photo? Standing 3rd left is not Albert Teh. It is his elder brother Tony Teh."
Ipoh Remembered adds:

"Yes, Paul Mor Singh does look fetching with a bow in his hair!

When he was appointed first head-master in 1912, he was only twenty-two. In the photograph he is sixty. Also in the photograph, standing right, are his daughters.

Standing left is Cathy Tan. Her father is seated in front of her. I wish I could recall his full name but, at least for now, “Mr. Tan” will have to do!

Next to Cathy, second from left is Mary Lip – and her dad, Lip Seng Onn, is sitting in front of her. The Lip family was a prominent one in Ipoh and was quite involved with SMI.

2 Generations of Teachers! Four dads and five of their children, to be exact."

Ignatius Chew advised:

"This photo is in the school magazine, The Michaelian 1950.

The teachers are:

Seated L to R: Mr Tan Boon Kwee, Mr Lip Seng Onn, Mr Teh Swee Kang, Mr P. J. Mor Singh
Behind L to R: Miss C. Tan, Miss M. M. Lip, Mr Teh Eng Liat, Miss T. Mor Singh, and Miss M. Mor Singh."
