Remark : Previously a popular type of boat around the rivers of Malaya, this genuine dugout, made from the trunk of one tree, measures 14ft long and 21inches wide maximum.
The sampan was obtained from the set of the movie 'The Sleeping Dictionary', filmed mostly in Sarawak, when it was brought back to Ipoh.
The movie was written and directed by Guy Jenkin and starred Jessica Alba as the 'dictionary'.
