Remark :
The Federation of Malaya consisted of the 11 states that existed from 31 January 1948 until 16 September 1963. These included the nine Malay states and the British settlements of Penang and Malacca. Consequently it was the Federation of Malaya Police who, with their military colleagues had to bear the brunt of the Malayan Emergency (1948 to 1960).
