These photographs show the celebration dinner to mark the appointment of Raja Dr Nazrin Shah as DYTM Raja Muda Perak (Heir to the Throne) at the Ipoh Town Hall in 1987. The dinner was organised by the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCCI) chaired by Dato’ Seri Chong Kok Lim.

Raja Dr Nazrin Shah ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibuddin Shah is the eldest son of Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yusuff Izuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-lahu and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Bainun binti Mohd Ali. He was born in Penang on 27 November 1956. He was appointed Regent of Perak when his father became the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) from 1989 to 1994.

Raja Dr Nazrin was instrumental in motivating the early formation of the Perakean League, an apolitical organization to unite the Perakean community and Perakean diaspora.

Raja Dr Nazrin married Tuanku Zara Salim Davidson, the only daughter of well-known lawyer on 19 May 2007.

The Regent of Perak was entertained by a number of dance and song items during this dinner hosted by PCCCI.

The first picture (on the left) shows the arrival of HRH Sultan Azlan Shah at Ipoh Town Hall. Next, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah with his father and Dato’ Seri Chong Kok Lim (left) at the Celebration Dinner. On the right is Raja Dr Nazrin Shah cutting the cake to commemorate the occasion, standing next to it is a six-tier cake which looks like a Chinese Pagoda.
