A Time When A Sea Was Over Ipoh
This is an article of the geology of Kinta Valley in which Ipoh currently lies, picked out from Ipoh: The Town That Tin Built. The article contains a write-up about the history of the valley where the geologists know that a warm sea covered the site where Ipoh is, 300 million years ago.
At one locality near Chemor, north of Ipoh, the discovery of fossil remains has shown that some of the rocks there are as old as Ordovician (500 million years) to Silurian (400 million years). There was then a break in the geological record between these rocks and those of the sedimentary rocks subsequently laid down in Carboniferous to Permian times (350-225 million years ago). It talks basically of the geological history of the valley that is Kinta.
It then continues on with the ore contents and minerals that were found in the Kinta Valley, which highlights on the important role Kinta Valley played in the Tin industry.
