Letters From The Malaya Borneo Building Society Ltd. To Madam Ong Geok Seow
The images in this entry are scans of letters from the Malaya Borneo Building Society Ltd. to Madam Ong Geok Seow of 7A Cator Avenue, Taiping. The first letter from the left is one which was dated the 14th of February 1963 where the contents of the letter mentioned of the necessity for Madam Ong to provide another male guarantor as her son Mr. Poh Kim Hoo is not accepted as a guarantor by the society.
The particulars of the new guarantor requires the name, age, address, occupation, employer's name and address. Madam Ong also has to confirm that the new guarantor has no existing loan from the Society and at the meantime her loan application from the Society has been put on hold.
The second image from the left is a letter in response from the Society after the submission of the particulars of the new guarantor by Madam Ong. Dated 8th of March 1963, it mentions that the society has received the fresh application where the new guarantor is Mr. Ghani Sham Dass Sehgal who will replace Mr. Poh Kim Hoo as her guarantor.
Another matter which the society highlighted in this letter was the correct age of Madam Ong, where in her earlier application it was observed that her age was 54 years old and in the new application it was stated 65 years old. The society was looking for clarification with regards to her age and that if Madam Ong's age in the new application was correct then it would not be possible for the society to approve her loan application.
