This collection for the Federation of Malaya begins with a set of four (4) stamps that were issued on the 5th of May, 1957 for the use throughout the Federation of Malaya with the theme "National Series" and ends with the Malayan Postal Union stamp collection which were Postage Due stamps used throughout the Federation of Malaya and Singapore from 1951 to 1963.

On the other hand, the collection for Malaysia began with stamps issued on the 16th of September 1963 to mark the birth of Malaysia which then comprised of the old Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore (until it became an independent state on the 9th of August 1965). This collection ends with a set of 3 stamps of the theme "Kenyalang Crest" which were dated 1978.
