Remark :

The pictures show an abandoned building, which has now been demolished. This house once stood along Brash Drive (Persiaran Brash), facing the Polo Ground (Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz).

From the feedback we received (on the Blog and Facebook), many Ipoh folks remember this unique building. From what we have gathered, this house once belonged to a butcher-turned-developer named Cheong Kow (aka 'Chee Yoke' Kow). Unfortunately, Cheong Kow died in a helicopter crash in Genting. In the mid to late 90's, the land was sold and the area became a construction site for condominiums. It is said that the metal grills and fittings of the house were imported from Thailand.

We thank Mike, Anonymous, Thomsonroad, S Y Lee, Claire Bong and Charlie for the above information.
