From 1948 to 1957 the Federation of Malaya Polce wore shirts and shorts as described below except 'Royal' od 'DiRaja' did not appear oh then badjgs. On July 24, 1958, the Federation of Malaya Police Force was conferred the title "Royal" by His Majesty the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong. They were now known at the Federation of Malaya Royal Police Force. The award was timely because it was a token of appreciation from the public and the country for the role and sacrifices made by the Police Force since the Emergency of 1948. The people and the country were proud of the Police Force for sacrificing their wealth and lives to protect the sovereignty of the country.

The uniform consisted of:

  • Cap / Cap badges with 'Polis Diraja Persekutuan' (Royal Federation Police) logo
  • Short-sleeved khaki shirt
  • Khaki bloomers
  • Lanyard
  • 'Polis Diraja' insignia (known as Titles) on the shoulders
  • Hostop
  • White anklet
  • Black leather shoes

The above extract is taken from the book "Sejarah Bergambar Institusi Polis Di Malaysia" (Illustrated History of the Malaysian Police Force). The picture shows the khaki shirt and bloomers, which continued as Police uniform until 1970.
