Draughtsman's Card Scales
The photographs in this entry are those of 2 sets of Draughtsman's (Draftsman's) Card Scales. The ones in the green box are made by Reeves & Sons Ltd. London, apart from the box which contains the complete set of card scales being a little worn out, the varnished card scales are still in good condition. Reeves & Sons Ltd an English artists' supplies firm was established by William Reeves in 1766, the firm underwent various name changes during its history and ownership was finally passed to Wilhelm Becker through Colart Fine Art and Graphics.
The second set is made by the firm, Eyre & Spottiswoode which is also based in London. The set is incomplete as the card scale labelled G is missing from the set, also this particular set is not in very good condition as some of the measurements have faded.
