12th Infantry Regiment Workshop REME 1955-57 (13)
Alan Steel once served in the 12th Infantry Regiment Workshop REME at Gunong Panjang (Gunung Panjang), Ipoh. We thank him for sharing his memories with us through his collection of pictures. This picture was taken around 2013 in UK; Alan explains this picture:
"We held a 12 Infantry Workshop REME stand at the Malaysian Merdeka Carnival on 22 September last year at Brickendonbury, Herts, and were welcomed by the High Commissioner and feted by the Malay people there. My wife, Val and I were invited to lunch with the H C. Four of us spent the day there, myself and Val, Dennis Marsden, Bill Jennison and Graham Barton, a particular friend of mine. We spent many happy hours at the Jubilee Park Cabaret dancehall in the old days. However, I am very sad to say that Bill Dennison passed away quite suddenly in February this year after a short illness".
