Remark :

The picture shows part of the Ipoh Wet Market. The lady in the far right is our donor's mother.

Some of our blog readers shared their thoughts about this picture:

Mano

(named some of the cars) On the left, Peugeot 403, A Mini, Austin Cambridge, the earlier model Cambridge followed by the Ford Zephyr. On the right, the Ford Consul and behind it is the Renault Caravelle.

The street is Jalan Foo Choo Choon connecting to Jalan Laxamana in background. There is, of course, the Kledang Hill as well. The white two storey building at the end of the street is where the Yik Fong Complex stands today. It was a school of either Chinese or Malay medium. It was demolished initially to make way for the Fire and Rescue Services building.

TToh

The large building in the background , with the galvanised roof was the ” Fish Market ” . Always smelt ” fishy ” when you passed by. Running parallel to this road was the once popular ” Brewster Road ” .

Lean Chee Seng

Across the street ,facing the lady was the Fruits market. The Fish market is shown as the focal point of this Photo. Of course, the Kleadang range can clearly be seen.

We thank Larry Sawyer (our donor) and our blog readers for the above information.
