A Bamboo Food Or Water Carrier
This is a typical demonstration that shows how, at one time, local materials were once adapted to provide everyday utensils at no financial cost. Today we would just drive to the local store and buy one of these manufactured in Stainless Steel.
This item came from a tin mine in Kampar and was probably used by one of the coolies or dulang washers to bring their lunch to work.
Made from one piece of slightly oval bamboo with an average diameter of 4.5 inches it stands 9.5 inches tall. The lid is tight fitting. It carries one Chinese character which translates as "Joined into one".
