Press Cutting - Towers Rich In History
This article published in Star Metro om 31 August 2011. 54 years after Merdeka (Independence) features four local clock towers that were built to mark Malaya's Independence from te British in 1957. The clock towers are un Kampar, Sungei Siput, Parit and arit Buntar, but the one from Kampar is not presented as a photograph.
None of the towers were actually completed for the actual day.
As well as the photos of three of the towers, there are also two plaques that commemorate the unveiling and an old photograph of the audience watching the dedication of the Sungei Siput Tower.
