Remark :

These four photographs are from two different periods. The first two record the wedding of our donor's parents around 1950 and the second two feature the Kampung House in 1954.

The Kamoung House was built around 1910 by Jobor (said to be the founder of Kampar) for his second wife and the son (Abdulah) from his first wife. In the 1930's our donor's grandfather, Choong Kee, bought the house and land to establish a new foundry to support the local mining industry. He modernised the house to the more Chinese style by moving the main steps ro the front door to the centre of the house and at the same time excavated the area under the house (between the stilts) to provide increased headroom. The house remains in the same style today (2018).

Turning to the photographs above the wedding car and many guest's cars can be seen parked in the courtyard outside the house. The second photo shows the wedding cars leaving the main gate of the foundry.

Move the clock forward about 4 years and the next picture shows the house with some of donor's family car parked outside. The final photograph is a wonderful family group outside the house. From left to right. with relationship to our donor included are:

Hoong Kheng Lin (Mother)

Choong Ah Thong (Father)

Victor Choong (Brother)

Leong Yee Kiew (Grandmother)

Choong Kee (Grandfather)

Paul Loke (Cousin)

Choong Hung Fah (Aunt)

Peggy Loke (Cousin)

NOTE: Our donor, Charlie Choong, is not pictured as he was born 3 years after the photo was taken.
