This article from Stat Metro on 11 June 2011 records interviews with Sungei Siput residents who remember the cold bloodied killings of the three planters, John Allison, Ian Christian and Wally Walker that led to the Declaration of Emergency in 1948.

The article also introduces the proposal to build a monument in one of the plantations to the memory of the three men and those who died in the Emergency. The project is led by the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) who have received approval ffor the monument to be built on the site of Allison's bungalow, long demolished.
