First Battalion The New Zealand Regiment (1957-59) Association - First Of The First
This book is a compilation of several stories from ex-Service men of the New Zealand Regiment’s 1st Battalion that arrived in Malaya back in 1957. It contains an array of written accounts by veterans and their families – from leaving their homes in New Zealand to embark on a journey to Malaya to defend against Communist insurgents threatening the stability of the government to being stationed at the Malay/Thai border to eliminate any remnants of defeated, deployed terrorists. There are numerous pictures of military equipment to compliment the texts as well. Interestingly, a nominal roll can be found at the end of the book that highlights just how many soldiers were in the battalion.
