This photograph shows the Birch Memorial Clock Tower made in dedication to J.W.W Birch – Perak’s first British resident. Behind the clock tower stands the Straits Trading Building aka OCBC Bank.
The historical structure was unveiled to the public in 1909 and is built with a cost of $25,000. It features a bronze bust of J.W.W Birch himself as well as numerous bells that are tuned to chime Big Ben’s tunes.
