Enamel Advertising Signboards (21) - Dunlop Authorised Dealer
This 24" diameter, round, double-sided enamel sign would be mounted on the wall outside any shop or service station that dealt with Dunlop goods.
In 1888, Dr John Boyd Dunlop, a veterinary surgeon of Belfast, Ireland, invented the pneumatic tire, probably the most revolutionary and important invention to come out of the bicycle industry. In 1889, Dunlop founded the Pneumatic Tyre Company and Booth's Cycle Agency, which were to become the Dunlop Rubber Company Limited, still in existence today.
We have several Dunlop items in our collection, just search for "Dunlop" and "Artifact" to locate them.
