This article, written by Chong Set Son, talks about a master craftsman named Tan Khar Mee (55 years old). Tan crafts dragon heads (as well as lion heads), and has been in this business for 43 years. Tan caters to both local and foreign customers; as he explains "Our dragon heads are in more demand than those made in other countries, including China, as the materials used such as rattan, cloth and colour papers can last longer". Tan's prewar workshop is near the central market in Ipoh. This article is dated 15 December 1998.

Besides dragon heads, Tan also specialises in lion heads. Read more about Tan Khar Mee's craft here.
