  1. People's Interest Comes First: Sultan
    The Sultan of Perak wants the State Government to be extra cautious in giving out logging areas to various operators. The Sultan is concerned about the effects of logging; i.e. logging debris filling the streams and rivers. His Highness expressed his concern over this form of pollution at the opening of the Centralised Logging Camp in Lasah (20 miles north of Sungai Siput).

  2. Use Old Mining Land For Housing: Sultan
    His Highness the Sultan of Perak hopes that the Perak State Development Corporation and the private sector will work together, in using old mining land to build low-cost houses. The Sultan proposed this during a visit to the 1st phase of the Taman Rishah low-cost housing scheme at Jelapang. Taman Rishah is said to be a 28-acre site with 289 units of houses; these houses comprise of single storey terrace units and semi-detached double storey units. This housing scheme is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.

  3. Perak To Develop 60, 000 Acres
    The State Government will develop about 60, 000 acres of land (through FELDA and State Government agencies) as part of the Third Malaysia Plan (Rancangan Malaysia Ketiga). This was announced by the Menteri Besar of Perak - Tan Sri Haji Ghazali Jawi.
