Subject :A H & C Yellow Glass Latex Collection Cup
Published By : None
Location : Gopeng
Estimated Year : 1950
Media Type : Artifact
Source : Ian Anderson, Ipoh
Remark :

Very similar to the two Dunlop glass latex collecting cups we have in our collection, this cup is marked H & C in the base. It measures approximately 11.5 cm diameter at the top and 9cm high.

H & C probably stands for Harrison & Crossfield an estate and plantations company established in 1844 in Malaya and dealing in tea and coffee. The company had outstanding growth in the late 19th Century and after the First World War changed their business into a General Trading Company. The company has gone from success to success but not with the original tea and coffee but with rubber and latterly Oil Palm which have both figured greatly in their plantations side of the business.

The company was renamed Golden Hope Plantations Berhad in 1990 to reflect a change in management.

Editor's Note - Item broken in transit to store, therefore it has been discarded.
