Perak Motor Club Circuit Racing, Message From His Royal Highness Sultan Idris Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah Of Perak
This letter from Sultan Idris Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah, the 33rd Sultan of Perak and dated 29 July 1970 expresses the Sultan's great pleasure that the Royal Perak Motor Club will be holding their Circuit Racing meeting at Tasek Industrial Estate in conjunction with his birthday celebrations. It appears in the Royal Perak Motor Club Circuit Racing programme for their meeting of 29/30 August 1970.
Sultan Idris was born on 12th August 1924 in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. After his early education at Clifford School, he furthered his studies at Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK). Later, he became the Raja Di Hilir following the death of Raja Sir Chulan Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdullah Muhammad Shah II.
In October of 1938, Sultan Idris was appointed Raja Bendahara upon the demise of his father - Sultan Iskandar Shah. Ten years later his cousin, Sultan Yusuf Izzudin Shah, made him the Raja Muda. Sultan Idris then ascended the throne after the death of his cousin in 1963. Sultan Idris reigned for twenty years as the Sultan of Perak, till his sudden death (in 1984) in Lumut during an official function.
Upon his death, Sultan Idris was succeeded by Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah.
