This page is taken from the souvenir programme for the opening of the Ruby Theatre. The Ruby Theatre was custom-built by the mining entrepreneur Lau Ek Ching. The formal opening of the cinema, by The Honourable Mr G E Cator, CMG, British Resident Perak, took place on Tuesday 4 October 1938.
