A Ruby Theatre (Cinema) Flyer For The Greatest Show On Earth
The Ruby Theatre was custom-built by the mining entrepreneur Lau Ek Ching. It opened on Tuesday 4 October 1938.
The flyer above promotes a Paramount production, starring Betty Hutton, Carlton Heston, Gloria Grahame, James Stewart, Cornel Wilde and Dorothy Lamour. The movie had 5 shows per day starting at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm with the opening on the 18th.
With so many cinemas in Ipoh and the serious competition for audiences, flyers like this were often delivered to every home on a weekly basis.
