Perak Contestants For Miss Malaya 1962 In The Lido Theatre
The photograph shows the winners of the different town beauty contests for 1962 across Perak. They are the BEAUTY QUEENS from five towns in Perak who will contest for the “Miss Malaya” title.
Miss Chong Kwai Ying, 18 (Miss Kampar), Miss Wong Chew Mui, 19 (Miss Telok Anson), Miss Jenny Yap, 19 (Miss Ipoh), Che Salmi binte A, Salim, 20 (Miss Kuala Kangsar) and Che Teh Maimunah binte Mustaffa, 19 (Miss Taiping).
They are now competing for the honour of representing Perak for the title of Miss Malaya. The contest was held in the Lido Theatre, Ipoh.
At this stage of the competition they are wearing the traditional Kebaya.
This contest was part of the celebrations for Ipoh being declared a Municipality.
The winner for Miss Malaya 1962 was Miss Brenda Alvisse (Miss Penang).
1st Runner-up - Cik Teh Maimunah bte Mustaffa (Miss Taiping).
2nd Runner-up - Miss Anna Ong Soo Fau (Miss Klang).
