Perak Vehicle Registrations PK And A Documentation - Part 1 - A 1941 Triumph Motorbike
This two registration documents dispel the myth that Perak vehicles carry the letter "A" because the state had the first cars in Malaya.
In fact, prior to the Japanese invasion, Perak registration numbers started with "PK" as is shown by the document above. This demonstrates that Triumph motorcycle PK 722 was registered on the 4.7.1941. by the Federated Malay States Registrar of Motor Vehicles, Perak South, Ipoh.
The background to the above is that prior to the Japanese invasion, Penang vehicles were registred "PG" and Perak "PK". Obviously, there were no new registrations during the occupation and in 1945, with the forecast increase of vehicle imports, the Colonial Government realigned registrations as "P" for Penang, "A" for Perak, "B" for Selangor etc.
