A Splendid Set Of Old PK (Perak) Registered Cars
This splendid photograph was taken in 1936 or thereabouts and was sent in to the MSVCR by Rex Jansz. From the left to the right, can be seen: Bill Ferguson from the Changkat Kinding Estate ( Triumph Vitesse 6), Hugh Oates ( MG PB ), The Late Jack Ashby (MG TA) and Gerald Dixon (MG TA ). These are the Pre- War Perak registration numbers. In 1945, the Colonial Goverment changed these from "PK" to "A".
The picture was taken from the magazine of the Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car register (MSVCR). If anyone knows anymore about these men or their vehicles, we would be pleased to hear from you.
The MSVCR was orginally founded in Malacca in 1955 as the Malayan Vintage Car Register (MVCR) by a group of enthusiasts in the area. The stylized letters "MVCR" formed the club's logo. The Register was formed to bring together vintage car enthusiasts and in particular to encourage the use, restoration and preservation of vintage cars and motor cycles, with particular emphasis on use. The MVCR was one of the founding Associate Members of the Federation Internationale des Vehicules Anciens (FIVA) in the 1960s.
The MSVCR (once Singapore joined) is FIVA National Authority for Malaysia and Singapore, representing both nations with respect to FIVA, and is registered for motor sport with the governing national bodies, the Automobile Association of Malaysia and the Singapore Motor Sports Association.
