A Chingay Procession
Thumbnail :
Subject :A Chingay Procession
Published By : None
Location : Ipoh
Estimated Year : 1964
Media Type : Photograph
Source : Ian Anderson, Ipoh
Remark : This is a picture taken in the streets of Ipoh. It is believed to be a Chinese Chingay celebration as there are the traditional tall Chinese flags/banners and lion dancers clearly visible. The activity appears to be centred around the England Dobi Shop where the procession may well have stopped to give a demonstration, and there are large numbers of spectators in attendance. Numerous vehicles in the street are probably being delayed by the festivities and have formed a traffic jam. It is likely that the occasion is part of the celebration of the festival of the God of the Earth.
