Raja Alang Iskandar Shah was born on the 10th May 1876. He graduated from the Oxford University and served as a Secretariat in Taiping. He was elected as the Assistant Commissioner of the Federated Malay States Police on the 1st August 1905. He succeeded the Perak throne as the 30th Sultan of Perak, following the death of his elder brother, Sultan Abdul Jalil in November 1918, and was named Sultan Alang Iskandar Shah. He died on the 14th August 1938.

Raja Abdul Aziz was born on 14th November 1887 , son of Raja Muda Musa. During the reign of his brother-in-law, Sultan Alang Iskandar Shah, he was made the Raja Muda of Perak in 1919. Following the death of Sultan Alang Iskandar Shah, Raja Abdul Aziz succeeded the throne of Perak to become Sultan Abdul Aziz of Perak, in 1938. During his reign, he introduced the Perak State Government Secretariat Office, following the agreement with Sir Edward Gent (Governor of the Malayan Union) on the 21st January 1948. He passed away on the 29th March 1948 at the Lumut Rest House. The Perak royal throne was then succeeded by Sultan Yusuff Izzuddin Shah.
