Subject :Ong Boon Khing of Tapah Spreads his Wings
Published By : None
Location : Tapah, Perak
Estimated Year : 1936
Media Type : Photograph
Source : Ong Kor Leong, Tapah
Remark : These three photographs are of Ong Boon Khing of Tapah. He was the second son of Ong Bee Thye and his Wife Tan Siew Ewe, both of whom were immigrants from China before the First World War. His father passed away when he was six years old in 1924.

Ong Boon Khing seems to have been the businessman who took over the management of the Tapah businesses from his mother as soon as he was able and expanded them into the East coast of Malaya. Much of this business was in Terengganu and the three photographs show him in that area, having visited a Shell Petrol agency, catching a local bus and in front of a Malayan Airways DC-3 in 1954. In the last picture he is standing in the centre of two friends and the one on the left is carrying a small boy. This was Tan Sri Lim Eng and it is believed the boy could be Datuk Lim Ah Lek, Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Deputy President when this entry was written.
