Inspector Bernard Thong Kwong Sin will be remembered as the fearless, determined Special Branch officer who had scored the highest success rate in every single undercover operation between 1956 and 1959. For his dedication, courage and his complete disregard for personal safety, Bernard was honoured with the JPP Gallantry Award with bar.
The page also carries a picture of Inspector Benard Thong Kwong Sin.
Subsequently, in response to a question, Dato Seri has added:
Inspector Benard Thong Kwong Sin is the only hero who was awarded the JPP with a Bar. Sadly he had to leave the Force because he did not pass his Malay language examination. Anyway I assisted him to get into the Perak Game department where he was at one time the Perak Chief Game Warden. He died on 9th November 2002. I wrote an article on him which came out in the Star (12 Nov 02) and the Sun Newspaper(12 Nov 02).
