An Article From The Cold Storage Company Social And Sports Magazine - Ipoh Talentime
This article was published in Cold Storage Group of Companies’ Social and Sports Scrapbook in the year 1960. It reports the first such competition that has taken place in the Social and Sports Club:
This was an informal gathering held in the Ipoh office on Saturday 6th August 1960 to select the two best singers to go forward to the Company's finals in Singapore.
There were 12 male performers, 10 singers, some of whom accompanied themselves on the guitar, and 2 harmonica players. Unfortunately no ladies could be persuaded to perform.
The committee of judges, Mrs D M Harper, and Messrs D M Harper and R H Wheeler (photo bottom left) unaminiusly selected Mr Koo Boo Har (top right) from Ipoh Bakery as the winner while Mr Ivan O'Hara and Mr Chan Mun Soon (bottom right) tied for second place. After a second performance, Mr Chan Mun Soon was selected as runner-up.
