Brother Augustus was the designer of the original main block of the magnificent school building which was extended twice in the same style. As well as being the designer, he closely supervised the construction of the building, which at the time it was erected was the largest building in the Kinta Valley.

A strict disciplinarian who insisted on excellence in the students’ studies, he was also an accomplished mathematician and linguist.

Upon completing his Appointment with SMI, he was reappointed to Mandalay, Burma, in 1925. He was replaced in SMI by Brother Henry.
