Remark : Ann our donor describes the photograph thus:

Each Easter Sunday the different Methodist Churches would have a combined Easter sunrise service. When my dad (Ralph Kesselring) was teaching maths in the Anglo-Chinese School, Ipoh (ACS), he would set as a problem for the students to solve as to when the sun would actually rise over the mountains surrounding Ipoh.

The night before the Methodist Youth Fellowship would get together and prepare a large cross covered with Frangipani blossoms to be the focal point for the service. The picture shows this preparation with my mom, Florence Kesselring standing at the bottom. Taken in 1965, probably by my dad.

Easter Sunday was always special because we got up when it was dark and had this special service with the English, Chinese and Tamil choirs all participating. Then when it was over we had 'Pao' (Chinese steamed buns filled with pork) delivered on bicycle by the Pao vendors.
