Remark : This photograph shows a dead end road which simply petered out as it approached the hills. It was an ideal place from which communist terrorists could operate from during the Malayan Emergency.
On the right is an elderly walking towards the house and wearing a traditional wide-brimmed pointed coolie hat. She may well have been retirning from a hard day's toil in the mines.
