Remark : The photographs show:

  • A picture of the Despatchers Brevet, these wings were awarded to them after they had completed 20 operational or 40 training drops. The Despatchers, working in teams of four on flying duties were responsible for the receipt of vital stores and combat supplies, packaging them for air drop, loading the packages on the aircraft and finally dispatching through the open door during flight. The schedule was based on one day packing supplies, and the next day delivering them, day in day out.
