Remark : After a long day at the office, surviving ambushes, hauling broken down vehicles, getting everything and anything else military in order, what else does a soldier do? During relaxation if there was any; everyone headed for the pool. After a long swim it was essential to relax and check out the sights around the pool and nothing made life better than good music from a jukebox with friends all around. Discussions ranged from the latest movies to what will they be doing at night.

From left to right the photographs show:

  • Four young men from 12th Infantry Workshop REME, enjoying a cigarette after a swim in the pool, this photograph was probably taken at the Kinta Swimming Club.

  • Relaxing after a long swim with a jukebox next to you was at times a soldier’s definition of heaven. Life was even better if you had your friends along with you.

  • Boys Night Out. This is a picture Dennis Marsden, our donor, and his friends from 12th Infantry Workshop, out for the night in Ipoh. He is sitting in the middle in a white shirt without a drink in his hand as you will notice.
