Remark :
The picture shows the front of the book ‘Days Gone By: Growing up in Penang’, written by Christine Wu Ramsay. Ramsay is one of the many descendents of Leong Fee - the owner of the famous Tambun Mines in Perak. In the prologue, Ramsay explains:
“Days Gone By is the story of my family and the first seventeen years of my life growing up in Penang, an island off the northwest coast of Malaysia. It begins in 1876 with the arrival of my great grandfather, Leong Fee, from China to Penang and ends in 1957 with my departure from Penang to Australia.”
The book contains over 100 photographs from Ramsay’s family album, as well as recollections from the way of life and philosophy of the good old days.
