The press cutting from the single sheet Perak Shimbun published on December 12 2604 (1944) reports that evidence of the full support of the people of Malaya for the successful prosecution of the war is shown by the response to the second “Fixed Deposit with Bonus” drive launched by the Malai Banking Association. “Save more and help to win the war,” the banking officials appealed to the people of Malaya and they responded with a total amount saved of $19,553,981.79, almost a million dollars more than what was expected.
