Remark : This is an article from The Times of Malaya and Straits Echo published in 1950, April 24th. It describes the launch of a new Dredge called the "Kinta" on the April 12th of that year. Costing between $50000 to $60000, this dredge will run its trial in Pari River Ipoh. It is a 6-inch diesel electric dredge powered by a 75 horsepower engine fitted into a steel pontoon 10 feet wide and 26 feet long. It was launched from its dockyard, the Drainage and Irrigation Workshop in Lahat Lane.
