Remark :

These items come in two parts.

The bucket, made of rubber replaced the traditional wooden bucket used in the tin mines for decades. Their advantage was the reduced weight. Mainly used to collect the ore at the end of the dredge process they were carried on to a barge and taken off to the tin shop. Still weighing close to 45Kg this was no mean task.

To make the lifting and carrying easier, workers were provided with a sling of rattan which incorporated a steel hook at each end which linked to the steel handles of the rubber bucket. The weight on the neck must have been dreadful and it is also surprising that rattan could also stand the strain.
