John Addis - Notice Of His Demise.

This notice of the death of John Addis, published in the Argos newspaper on 8 July 1908 was provided by Susan, the great, great, granddaughter of John, the famous mining engineer at the Tronoh Mines Ltd owned by Towkay Foo Choo Choon.
The notice reads :
"ADDIS - On the 4th July, at Ipoh, Perak. Malay States, John, beloved husband of Elizabeth Addis of 119 Palmer-street, Richmond, father of Harry, John, Edith. Mrs. F. Hagger, and Mrs. W. J. Matthews. (By cable.)""At rest."
The Argus was a morning daily newspaper in Melbourne established in 1846 and closed in 1957. Widely known as a conservative newspaper for most of its history, it adopted a left leaning approach from 1949.
