Remark :

The first wedding in the newly built Church of Our Lady of Lourdes took place on 30th April 1960 between Arokia Dass @ Noel, Car Driver (Bachelor) and Amalorpavamary @ Mary Rozario (Spinster). The officiating priest was Rev. Father Louis Stanislaus.

From left to right the photos show:

    Ipoh Remembered comments:

    The marriage register (shown above) says the wedding took place in 1960, at the end of April.

    The church was opened in late 1959 – so I wonder why there were no weddings there in the first six or seven months.

    Anyway, the bride was quite young. She’d be only 75 today.
