Kinta Ice, Aerated Water & Bakery Advertisment From Kinta Aerated Water Company, Ipoh
This photograph shows an advertisement for Kinta Ice & Aerated Water Works, Ipoh and their bread.
The Kinta Aerated Water Factory, Taiping, Kampar and Ipoh was founded by Shaik Adam, but he gradually moved the focus of his operations to Ipoh.
Around 1905 the Cold Storage Company brought the luxury of refrigerated meat, fruit and dairy produce to Ipoh.
In response Shaik Adam established Kinta Ice Works in Ipoh and a small plant in Telok Anson (Teluk Intan), churning out tons of ice daily. His son, Jan Sahib (born 1895) later came from Madras to join the business, by then renamed the Kinta Ice, Aerated Water & Bakery Co.
