The Foo Family Albums - The Ipoh Tutorial Institute - Part 1
The Ipoh Tutorial Institute started in the De Silva Building (No. 43 Station Road, Ipoh) with a long frontage in Belfield Street (next to HSBC), in the early 1950's. It taught several subjects and was strong in teaching the English language and Commercial subjects like Pitman Shorthand and Touch Typing.
Running in parallel with the Old Town premises there were additional premises in Gurdwara Road, Ipoh and our reader Kami Suria sent us the following items from the Straits Times Classified Advertisements.
