On 9 April 1941, the Straits Times reported the death (the previous morning) of Charles Alma Baker, Malayan planter and miner, at his home in Batu Ferringi, Penang, at the age of 84. His body was to be conveyed to Batu Gajah the following day for burial at the Anglican Church Cemetery.

This cemetery is of course is universally known as "God's Little Acre". 

The newspaper report continued with a summary of his life with special not of his generosity of having given the largest Malayan gift of aircraft to the British Government in support of the war.
