Kampeitai (Japanese Secret Police) Headquarters, Cell No 1, Ipoh With Video
The photograph shows the exterior of Cell No 1 at the Kempeitai (Japanese Secret Police) Gopeng Road headquarters. For a time Dr A C Kathigasu was an occupant of this cramped, overcrowded enclosure. Sybil Kathigasu, was also imprisoned for some time in Cell No 3, located two away to the left. The Kathigasu's adopted son, William Pillay was eventiually thrown into Cell No 2.
