The Jennings' Collection : The First And Second Building, Of The Times Of Malaya Press Ltd.
Default
The picture on the left shows the first Times of Malaya Press Ltd building. This building was along Post Office Road. Times of Malaya, Ipoh's first newspaper, published its first edition on 9th March 1904. Two years later, J A S Jennings became the Editor and remained at the helm for 30 years. The first Times of Malaya building was later taken over by the Chamber of Mines.
In the early 1930's, the Times of Malaya Press Ltd moved to a new premise (picture on the right). This building was along Brewster Road. Though the newspaper does not exist today, the building however has remained.
We thank Nicholas Jennings (the grandson of J A S Jennings), who lent us these pictures.
