The Ipohbornkid Collection : The Original Star Barber's Shop
This photograph shows the very first Srar Barber's Shop (Star Hairdressing Saloon) in Hale Street, Ipoh, just across Belfiels Street from the Ipoh Padang. Part of the corner block which fronted on to Belfiels Street, the shop has been demolished and replaced by a new building which houses RHB Bank.
Sporting the traditional Air Conditioning transfers (One reader remembers that he thought the place was covered with snow when he saw these), the pillars are very reminiscent of the area covered by Belfield Street/Little India/Lahat Road.
Before the building was demolished (around 1973) the proprietor moved to Belfield Street and continued his barbers shop as the Star Hairdressing Saloon.
